Biography

Giuseppa Di Maggio is born around 1842 in Italy.[1] The record of her death names her father "Ancleo" (possibly Angelo) and her husband, Joseph Todaro.[2]

Their children are born in San Cipirello, according to secondary sources. Primary records of Josephine's birth and marriag have not yet been found. Cascio-10 20:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Josephine and Joseph have four known children: Calogero/Carlo/Charles (1869), Salvatore/Sam (1874), Joseph (c. 1878), and Frank (c. 1888).

On 20 January 1869 in San Cipirello, Giuseppe Todaro, age 35 (b. 1834), villico, resident in this comune, presents a baby boy who was born this day in his home to Giuseppa Di Maggio, his wife, with whom he lives, age 26 (b. 1843). The newborn baby is named Calogero.[3]

On 8 November 1874 in San Cipirello, Giuseppe Todaro, age 40 (b. 1834), borgese, a resident of this town, presents a baby boy who was born on 6 November 1874 in his home to Giuseppa Di Maggio, age 30 (b. 1844), his legitimate wife with whom he lives. The baby is named Salvatore.[4]

Calogero marries Grace on 27 April 1902 in San Cipirello, according to a note on his birth record.[3]

A margin note on his birth record says that Salvatore marries Rosa Magro on 11 September 1910 (the year is hard to read), atto record no. 16. The note is dated 13 March 1914.[4] On 11 September 1910 in San Cipirello, Salvatore Todaro, bachelor, age 36, possidente, native resident of San Cipirello, via Randazzo, #16, son of the late Giuseppe Todaro who was a resident of San Cipirello, and of Giuseppa Di Maggio, who is a resident of San Cipirello; and Rosa Magro, virgin, age 22, housewife, native resident of San Cipirello, via Leone, #21, daughter of Gaetano Magro and Maria Ruisi, both residents of San Cipirello; register their intention to marry in the civil record. The groom does not sign his name but the bride and witnesses do.[5]
